Research Interests

Mau Mau socio-political history, the history of the Home Guards during Kenya's colonial period, and postcolonial Kenya's political history. I am using my dissertation to explore how the carceral system in colonial Kenya, especially during the Mau Mau insurgency, was used to advance social engineering in Central Kenya targeting the Kikuyu people.
