I am Kefa Otiso, PhD. I teach Geography & geospatial science at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Among my research interests are urban development and management, globalization, and immigration in context of Africa and North America.

Denis Machanda
GeoSpatial Science Student
Denis Machanda is a committed Geospatial Science student at Bowling Green State University with an intense passion for exploring the nexus of geographic, information technology, and spatial data analytics. With a solid foundation in Geographic Information Systems, Remote Sensing, and Geovisualization, I am positioned to solve complex environmental issues ranging from biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation and mitigation, precision agriculture, humanitarian response, monitoring forest health, urban planning, flood mapping to a host of other societal and environmental challenges through innovative geospatial solutions. Denis Machanda is committed to continuous learning and applying cutting-edge tools to contribute to a sustainable and data-driven future.I have undertaken several geospatial projects, including but not limited to mapping land use land cover change detection using multi-temporal landsat imagery in Nakuru County, Ohio Poulalation distribution and flood mapping by use Google earth engine. I'm proficient in Geospatial software such as QGIS, Envi, GRASS, SAGA, GeoDa, etc, and spatial programming using R and Python.Previously, I have held leadership roles, notably congress man (2013) at JOOUST student association, Chairperson (2012) for JOOUST environmental students association where we run programs geared towards environmental protection and conservation.
