I am a dedicated communications professional with a strong background in media and communications. Currently, I am pursuing my doctoral program as a Graduate Fellow at Bowling Green State University while also serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant.With over nine years of experience in the field of media and communications, I have honed my skills and developed a deep understanding of effective communication strategies. My previous roles include serving as a Senior Communications Officer at KIRDI (Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute), where I successfully led and implemented communication campaigns to enhance organizational visibility and brand reputation.Prior to my role at KIRDI, I held a position as a Communications Officer at the same organization, contributing to the development and execution of internal and external communications initiatives. Additionally, I have gained valuable experience working as a Communications Officer at NCA and as a Media Intern for the Radio Africa Group.Throughout my career, I have demonstrated an ability to effectively manage communication channels, develop engaging content, coordinate events, and build strong relationships with stakeholders. My experience in media and communications has provided me with valuable insights into crafting compelling messages, managing digital media platforms, and leveraging communication tools to drive positive organizational outcomes.As a Graduate Fellow at Bowling Green State University, I am committed to expanding my knowledge and expertise in communications while also sharing my insights as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Robert Rukwaro Maina is currently pursuing a PhD Health Communication at Indiana University- Indianapolis. Rukwaro holds a Masters of Art in Communication Studies from United States International University-Africa. His research interests span across the use of communication tools for driving social change. Robert is interested in the control of Non Communicable Diseases. Rukwaro’s background and work experience include over 5 years teaching in various capacities in Kenyan High schools. Rukwaro believes that Africa has a unique communication prowess, which should not be overshadowed in any communication discourse with the rest of the world.
