Plant & Agricultural Sciences Team

We are experts in diverse Plant Sciences and various agriculture disciplines.

Collins Ogutu PhD.

I am Dr. Ogutu Collins, I have a PhD in Botany (plant genetics and biochemistry) and just got here from Germany. I'm looking forward to networking and collaborating with those in the similar fields.

I lead a research team focused on transforming daily oral antiretroviral therapies into ultra-long-acting slow effective release medicines (LASER ART) to facilitate treatment and prevention strategies against hepatitis B (HBV) and HIV-1 infections. The ultimate goal of this work is to create LASER ART regimen with once-every six months or longer dosing intervals to facilitate therapy completion rates. We are also developing ultra-long acting treatments for tuberculosis, malaria and opioid use disorders (addiction). The strong interdisciplinary team in our research program and infrastructure is something that few other programs enjoy and a major advantage towards the success of our research goals and student mentorship.
